The Geothematic Atlas of Aragon was conceived as a contribution towards the dissemination of a complete body of knowledge on our territory from a geographic perspective. Its digital version comprises a total of 8,948 maps and is structured into four major blocks:
  1. The first block is a cartographic presentation of Aragon, including maps related to the distribution of the territory, satellite images and topographic profiles. Maps drawn up by the National Geographic Institute between 1900 and 1960 are also included. These documents provide the atlas with a rigorous historical vision, in terms of topographical precision and toponymy value.
  2. In the second part, which deals with the Environment, cartography related to reliefs, climate, water and the relationship between humankind and nature is included.
  3. The third block refers to Territorial Organization. The themes included are articulated by the territorial demarcations in Aragon. On this basis, a range of maps containing varied information depending on the data analyzed (land use, less-favored areas, mountain zones, etc.) has been elaborated.
  4. The final chapter is dedicated to Human Activities: demography, agriculture and livestock, energy and industry, transport and telecommunications, education, health and social services, tourism and geopolitics.

Ultimately, this collection of maps in the Geothematic Atlas of Aragon is a didactic and rigorous initiative, intended to create awareness of the reality of our autonomous region.
